How the Online Course Works

Take the first 5 modules, Mastering eMeetings 101 (Option A).  This option will enhance your ability to lead your recurring virtual meetings with greater time-efficiency, effectiveness, engagement, energy and overall excellence. You can expect to invest between 1 to 2 hours per module to view videos, read downloadable materials, and complete exercises on your own time.

Note: Access for this and all other options is available for 1 full year from your sign-up date.

I want to lead recurring meetings better and have the frameworks, strategies and techniques to facilitate online collaborative sessions.

Take Mastering eMeetings 101 and Developing Your Facilitation Mindset and Skillset for Online Collaboration (Option B). The first half of the course is as described in Option A above. In addition, you will access 5 new modules covering how to facilitate online collaboration. Again, you can proceed through the course at your own page, and have 1 full year to complete it.

Delivered over 10 weeks via Masterful Facilitation’s Online School, the course will empower remote team leaders like you with a practical facilitation foundation.  You will learn how to facilitate positive and effective virtual group meetings as well as acquire the facilitation mindset and skillsets to tackle more complex work sessions.

You can expect to invest between 1 to 2 hours per module to view videos, read downloadable materials, and complete exercises. Between modules, if you choose to participate, you can explore topics and share experiences with your class cohort in the online forum on the Masterful Facilitation Online school site. Your Masterful Facilitation instructor may offer additional content as relevant to the issues posted, though the primary intention is rich co-learning and exchange

I want to lead recurring meetings better and have the frameworks, strategies and techniques to facilitate online collaborative sessions AND practise these under the guidance of a master facilitator by leading my own remote team through a 5-step collaborative workshop.

Take Mastering eMeetings 101, Developing Your Facilitation Mindset and Skillset for Online Collaboration, and Leading a 5-Step Workshop Method. (Option C - FULL PROGRAM). The first 10 modules are as described in Option B above.  As in the previous options, you may proceed through the content at your own pace, and have access to all 15-modules for a full year.

Unlike the previous options, these are Action Learning modules. This means that you are expected to facilitate a virtual workshop with your team: High Performing Virtual Teamwork. This is a real team-building workshop that you will facilitate with your virtual team!

The valuable benefit to you is the ability to practice your virtual facilitation skills and gain confidence and insight from doing so. The lasting benefit for your team is their alignment and agreement on ways to achieve and sustain high performance working virtually, and their experiential learning from going through the workshop together over time.

If you choose this option, then to fully benefit from the Action Learning practices, you will need to have completed Options A and B beforehand. The Action Learning modules are scheduled to be loaded starting January 6, 2021 and will proceed through mid-February.

Your success at facilitating the workshop with your virtual team is supported by our professional facilitators from the Masterful Facilitation Institute. You are encouraged to join the weekly Q&A live group coaching calls where you can ask any questions about the process you are facilitating, and interact with other students for rich co-learning and insights. Coaching sessions will be recorded.

If you have signed up for Option C, and for any reason were to be unable to participate in the calls, then you can elect to simply listen to the recorded sessions and/or participate in the following intake starting March 2021. Information on future intake dates will be provided once you register.

Action Learning is a proven best practice for truly acquiring new skills, achieving higher retention and lasting transferability. In the 5 Action Learning modules, you will receive all the facilitator scripts and detailed design materials to facilitate the workshop virtually. You will learn why, how and when to apply the specific collaboration techniques on what tech platforms. Note: You will require virtual whiteboard and sticky note functionality now readily available through Microsoft Teams and other popular platforms. Details will be provided with your registration.

You can expect to spend going through the Action Learning modules: 1-2 hours total before and after the work session to plan/prepare/follow through; plus the time to facilitate the ‘live’ sessions of 60 to 90 minutes in duration; plus the weekly 1 to 1.5 hours Q&A calls.

Course Modules: You Receive

Each module of the Option you sign up for will be loaded at the pace of 1 per week starting October 21st. You can proceed through Options A and B on the Masterful Facilitation Online School and complete each new module at your own convenience. Access is for 1 full year.

  • Downloadable written material so you can build your own reference handbook to refer back to time and again.
  • Detailed descriptions and demos of the specific tools and techniques.

  • In Option C, you receive the script, materials, and timing that a Master Facilitator would use if they were facilitating the workshop for you. This will be like having your Professional Master Facilitator as your personal guide! These valuable detailed scripts and designs will enable you to personally facilitate each of 5 collaborative work sessions: what to say when, and how to facilitate a specific process.

Interactive and Live Opportunities

  • All Options offer you opportunities to interact through an online forum with other students enrolled on the Masterful Facilitation Online School, as you choose.
  • Option C also includes weekly live Q+A coaching sessions with our professional facilitator guides from the Masterful Facilitation Institute to answer any questions you have. Coaching sessions will be recorded.  

Course Outline and Objectives

Option A: Mastering eMeetings 101: Fine-Tuning Your Recurring Meetings for Excellence - 5 modules

The goal of Option A is to nip any timewasters in the bud so you can help your team succeed virtually with minimum wasted time, frustration, disengagement, overwhelm and uncertainty.

At the end of the five modules, you will be able to follow the Great Virtual Meeting Formula to ensure you have the right technology tools to communicate and collaborate; a solid structure for recurring virtual meetings; and the best facilitation techniques for focused and interactive process. And you also be able to:

  • Systematically structure your recurring meetings for optimal functioning, with standard formats and templates.
  • Plan and run all your live virtual meetings using the Great eMeeting Framework – what to do Before, at the Start, During, at the End and Throughout.
  • Attend to nurturing team connection and building your team in every live virtual meeting, through the best warm-ups that build your team over time.
  • Use best facilitation techniques to engage all participants, regardless of their learning and processing styles, so that even the quietest members can contribute.
  • Apply facilitation strategies to manage interactive group process during live meetings, to avoid potential pitfalls and keep your meetings on track and on time.

Option B: Developing Your Facilitation Mindset and Skillset for Online Collaboration – 10 modules.

Choose this option if you wish to enhance your current facilitation IQ and EQ in addition to leading better recurring meetings.

You'll continue in all your virtual meetings to strive for efficient, engaging, energizing and generally excellent results that free you up! Additionally, at the end of the 10 modules you will be able to:

  • Discern when to apply your management skills to control and direct remote work, and when to exert your facilitative leadership skills to enable excellence in others. You’ll recognize how facilitation skills are a mission critical competency of virtual group leadership.
  • Attend to both the process and the content of how a collaborative session must unfold for full engagement, creativity and results.
  • Facilitate group conversations with greater with ease, applying what good facilitators ALWAYS do to lead to any desired meeting outcome.
  • Skilfully ask good questions to stimulate thinking, spur further dialogue, gain involvement, solicit reactions, involve quieter participants, probe more deeply, test assumptions and seek consensus.
  • Support your remote group to do its best thinking, encourage full participation, promote mutual understanding, foster inclusive solutions and cultivate alignment and ownership for results.
  • Leverage the potential of asynchronous pre- and post-work to facilitate the divergent and convergent arc that any collaborative conversation must go through, so you can design your eSessions accordingly,
  • Recognize how the participant mindset evolves through most collaborative work, and see it applied through a high-level overview in a generic 5-Step Workshop Method.

At the end of the 10 modules, you will be able to view collaborative work sessions from the mindset of a Professional Facilitator.  You’ll be more aware of the guiding principles and frameworks that guide how best to design a working session, and know the best practices for leading any conversation for maximum engagement and interaction. 

These practices go much beyond what you learned in the first 5 modules of Mastering eMeetings 101You’ll know how to ensure maximum collective learning and engagement from virtual participants - essential conditions for collaboration and alignment. 

Option C: Leading Great Virtual Meetings and Online Collaboration for High Performance -15 modules

This Option comprises our full program for facilitating great virtual meetings and online collaborative work sessions.

Step by step, through the five Action Learning modules, you will learn exactly how to facilitate a 5-step workshop online.

You will learn what core tools to use, in what timing; following what script and leading what participant pre- and post-exercises, as well as during live work.

The detailed process methodology you will gain is the 5-Step Workshop Method as applied to High Performing Virtual Teamwork. Having gained an overview of the generic method in the last module of Option B, here you will delve into the five consecutive collaborative working sessions involving: defining your focus; analyzing the situation; generating new directions and goals; evaluating options to decide; and planning for results.

The great benefit is that once you have this straight-forward generic approach under your belt, you will be able to easily lead your virtual (and any in-person) group to address any number of the most common future needs for collaborative group work such as:

  • Resolve most issues or problems
  • Creatively exploit new opportunities for innovation
  • Set new goals and directions
  • Improve simple processes
  • Plan and implement projects and action plans.

You’ll learn the recommended interactive tools and how to facilitate them virtually to help your group achieve the desired results of each working session.

You’ll be clear on the input and output relationship between each session, how the product from one is the input into the next, and so on to the completion of the workshop.

The modules will guide you through how to get started to ready your all remote or hybrid group for online collaboration. You’ll receive the session designs and the resources including the script and participant materials and exercises to lead this type of collaborative session. Each working session will have pre- and post-work, as well as a facilitated live segment.

The Action Learning aspect of this course expects that, each week, you will facilitate one of the 5 online collaborative session with your remote work group so that you can practise planning each kind of session. We will support you to succeed in this with live weekly Q&A group sessions.

After your registration is complete, you’ll be sent an email receipt. Your login information will be sent to the email you provide during your registration.

  • Your first Welcome and Get Started modules will be loaded in your portal on October 19th. These will allow you to become familiar with our online school, so you can start planning when you will complete each module.
